Jesus is the Same

Jesus is the Same

Hebrews chapter 13 verse eight states, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Naturally, we assume that means that Jesus never changes, which is true. But there is a much deeper meaning to this verse than we realize.

When you study the original Hebrew and Greek, it gives us a deep insight into what the Bible is really saying. Verses take on whole new meanings that can change your life, if you only take the time to study them.

The word the same here, is the Greek word autos actually has a base word aer which actually comes from the idea of a baffling wind. Technically speaking, it means self. In other words Jesus Christ is himself yesterday, today, and forever. Not only does he never change but he has always been.

Jesus Christ is who He is. Yesterday, today, tomorrow, forever. Isn’t it reassuring that we are loved by Someone who never changes, someone who always has and always will be? Jesus is the Savior and has always been the Savior and will always be the Savior. Jesus is the lover of our souls, the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. Always. Forever.

When you feel as if your life is so chaotic and everything continues to change all around you, take comfort in the One Who Is Himself. He always has been. He always will be.
