The Living God

The Living God

The Bible says in Psalm chapter 42, verse 2: “I thirst for God, the living God. When can I come and appear before God?” God is a living God. So many people today see Christianity as a religion. Even though that’s the technical term, Christianity is not just a religion or a title. Being a Christian is about having a relationship with God – the living God.

Non-believers or anyone who talks about Christianity fail to emphasize something that I feel is one of the most important aspects of God: He is alive! He isn’t a statue or made from wood. He isn’t just some man who lived thousands of years ago or a poet who spoke some beautiful words for us to live by. No, God is alive! He is as real as you or me! Yet He is so much Greater!

If people today would give God a chance, they would see that He truly is alive and that He lives. They would meet the Best Friend they could ever have. God is a friend and He speaks to us when we choose to listen. My heart longs for more people to know God the way that I do; I want to share Him with the world, and yet so many people have eyes that are blind and ears that don’t want to hear.

Christianity isn’t about giving up fun things or giving up our greatest desires. Through a relationship with God, we can find our greatest desires. We blossom into people that we could never be without Him. Without Him, life is dull and bland. People may think they have everything they need or find happiness in so many other ways, but the truth is that they’re experiencing life in colors of gray, when God wants to help them see how vibrant and beautiful the world is in color – colors that He creates. With Him, the world is so beautiful and we miss out on so much without Him.

It’s more than a feeling, more than a title, or history, or the word religion. Christianity is a relationship, a love between a living God who breathed life into you and me, and everyone else alive on this earth.
