Who Defines You?

Who Defines You?

What you do here on earth doesn’t define you. I don’t know about you guys, but sometimes—okay, a lot of times—I either compare myself to others, or measure my worth and value based on what I’ve accomplished here on earth. But that doesn’t define me—my relationship with God and who I am in Christ is what defines me.

In fact, the things you do here on earth don’t really matter. Nothing matters, unless you do it for God’s glory, with His help, for His will and purpose and to further His Kingdom.

I’m not saying we can’t do other things. God still wants us to live our lives joyfully as long as we obey Him. What I am saying is don’t let your earthly accomplishments or lack thereof, define you anymore.

Today’s society, we place too much value on working. Are you working and earning money? If not ,then you’re not important or seen as important to this society but the truth is, work and money don’t matter at all. When we die, we aren’t taking our money to the grave and all your hard work won’t matter anymore. Naturally, we need money and finances to make it in this world—but don’t let that be your entire focus anymore.

What truly matters is Jesus Christ. Have you accepted Him? Do you have a relationship with Him? Have you shared Him with others? What do you try to do for Him and for His Kingdom? That matters.

So, whether you’re a hard working person, a billionaire, a poor person, a stay at home mother, an artist, or an author, what matters is God. Is He first in your life?

Do you use your gifts and talents to serve Him? Are you teaching your children right? Are you using your art, your writing, whatever it is you do, for Him? Are you sharing Him with you co-workers and friends? Or do you hide Him away, sit Him on a shelf until you’re ready to “rub the genie lamp?”

What do you use do define yourself? Is it God, or the stereotypes and standards of Man?

I think one thing the coronavirus has taught us that money and what this society values and deems as important, no longer matters. Family is what matters. Lives is what matters. God is what matters. During this entire quarantine, no one’s been able to use their money to go on vacations, see movies, go to amusement parks, or do anything that society loves and enjoys.

It’s shown us what’s really important. And if you don’t see that yet, I urge you to think about it. Ask yourself what you value, how you define yourself, what’s important to you?

What defines you?

Who defines you?

God or Man?
