Take Time For God

Take Time For God

Life these days in the last few decades has become busier and busier. It’s all about working for money, being on the go all the time, so much so that we barely have time for our families anymore, much less quiet time with God. The one good thing about the lockdown for COVID is that it forced us inside, with our families. To slow down, stop, and have extra time.

Lockdown, for a lot of people, has been hard. Loneliness and depression have been on the rise, which has led to higher suicide rates, which is terrible and heartbreaking. But even with the lockdown, how often do we take the time for God? Even sitting down for quiet time with God for half an hour every day oftentimes makes us feel like we’re being lazy or neglecting important things. How many times have you taken time for prayer and Bible study, and the whole time, thought that you had more important things you should be doing?

Work is important. Making money to live is important. Spending time with family and friends is important. But more than any of that, spending time with our Heavenly Father should be most important. When you take time for God throughout your day, not only are you showing him gratefulness for creating you and giving you the life that you have, but you are actually allowing yourself to be blessed. There is a fullness that can be found with God that can’t be found anywhere else. Work, money, entertainment… they’re all just ways to fill a void in our lives that is actually God’s to fill. True happiness is found with God and He can teach us so much, and I believe He wants to show us so much, but how can He if we never take a moment to sit down and read His Word?

That is the answer to all your problems; to help you relax and take the burden off your shoulders from whatever has been weighing you down, whether it’s finances, addictions, family drama, relationship issues, marital problems, sickness, fear, anxiety, problems with your kids, grief, and so much more. God may not take your hardships away completely, but He will lead you through them. And He can only do that when you take time to sit in His Presence.

“Be still and know that I am God.” Find a quiet place and take some time out of your day, even if it’s just ten minutes to start with. Breathe and bask in God’s Presence, let the Holy Spirit fill you. Pour out your heart to Him, give Him all your troubles, no matter how big or small. Then, read the Bible, His living Word, and see what God has to share with you.

Take time for God today. He took time for us when He created us and when He saved us.
